COVID-19: Council and Local Authorities updates

Latest National Updates

Australian Councils, Courts, Land Registries and Authorities have responded to the evolving impact of the COVID-19 situation and have implemented a range of measures to keep their staff, customers and communities safe. As a result select services have been impacted.

  • NSW Land Registry Services
    • From Monday 29 June 2020, the NSW Land Registry Services (NSW LRS) Lodgment Office will relocate from Queens Square to Level 30, 175 Liverpool Street, Sydney.
  • Local Courts
    • No personal appearance at the Courts. The Court will contact parties in relation to future listings to advise of the video and teleconference facilities available for their specific matter.
  • Supreme Court
    • Only accepting bulk work via post & other documents via e-mail. GlobalX can no longer lodge on behalf of customers. This will also impact litigation searches.


  • Magistrates Court
    • GlobalX can no longer attend the Magistrates Court. Litigation Searches must be sent via post.
  • Supreme Court
    • No longer accepting manual litigation search requests. They will accept e-mailed requests that are accompanied with a credit card details payment form.
    • The Probate Office no longer accepts paper lodgements. All probate filings must be completed on the Redcrest System. GlobalX can assist with this.
  • Land Titles Office
    • We can no longer drop box at the Land Titles Office in Melbourne. All filing must now be completed through PEXA. GlobalX Legal can assist with this.


  • The Supreme and District Courts
    • Seeking to maximise the use of telephone and video links to minimise the need for physical attendance in courtrooms.
  • Federal Circuit Court and Family Court
    • Currently closed. Firms are to call the court for assistance on electronically lodging documents.
  • Brisbane Land Titles Office
    • No longer accepting face-to-face lodgements. All work must be electronically lodged (which GlobalX can provide) or drop boxed, which may affect the return times.
  • Gold Coast Land Titles Office
    • Currently closed. All matters to be sent to Brisbane for drop box or e-lodging.
  • Settlement Rooms
    • FMS and SAI Settlement Rooms are only admitting one clerk per agency. This is causing significant delays in settlements at these venues.
    • The SAI settlement room (Brisbane) has been divided into 2 floors; discharging ANZ, NAB and NAB Broker discharges from Level 22, and all other banks (CBA, Westpac Business) from Level 25.


  • Land Services SA
    • Settlement Room closed.
    • Customers can lodge documents via:
      • Drop & Go on the Ground Floor at 101 Grenfell Street Adelaide,
      • Face-to-Face on the Ground Floor at 101 Grenfell Street Adelaide (only to be utilised when absolutely necessary),
      • Postal Lodgement at GPO Box 543, Adelaide SA 5001, or
      • Electronically via an ELNO (PEXA or Sympli).


  • Land Titles Office
    • Midland and Perth Landgate locations have moved to self-lodgement – measures are in place to adhere to social distancing guidelines.


  • The Supreme Court
    • Attendees can enter following strict hand sanitization measures and adhering to social distancing rules.
  • Magistrates Court
    • Attendees can enter following strict hand sanitization measures and adhering to social distancing rules.
  • Land Titles Office
    • Document can be delivered in person or via post.
